Structural Profile of Galvanized Steel PGC

Galvanized steel profiles constitute the structure of the house, and make up the sills
and the uprights that support the structural loads.

The steel is a light and resistant material, so that
the same structural resistance is achieved as with the traditional wet construction,
but with a considerably lower weight, which implies important savings in foundations
and soil movements.
It also has fundamental characteristics for the construction that the mechanical resistance and the resistance to the corrosion what guarantees the perpetuity of the structure without need of maintenance.

Higher Thermal and Acoustic Resistance System with the highest coefficient of energy efficiency.

It is applied on a sheet of expanded polyethylene of high density. The plate of high density polyethylene
has the advantage of offering a layer of thermal and acoustic insulation, achieves the coefficient "K" of thermal transmission lower, In addition to an osmogenes termination, of dran resistance, imperishable, devoid of fissures and humidity.

1. Base Coat:

The base coat is a cementitious material modified with acrylic polymers, used as an adhesive and as a leveling base. On the one hand, it is used to adhere the expanded polystyrene sheet, and on the other, applied on a fiberglass mesh,
to level and even the surface and leave it ready to apply afterwards the Finish base.

This Cement Mortar gives it the character of hardness and resistance to the walls of the construction, which prevents cracks, fissures and guarantees a totally protected exterior wall.

Its main characteristics are: excellent adhesion, flexibility, hardness, plasticity and water repellency.

2. Base Finish: Exterior plastic coating (Reverse or similar)

The Finish base is nothing more than the plastic plaster that we saw above, in the cement lining.
Plastic plaster is a paint formulated with elastomeric polymers that give it elasticity, resistance to climatic changes , to ultraviolet radiation and impermeability to rainwater.

The advantage of using plastic plaster is that it replaces the fine, dross, sealant and paint in a single operation, achieving significant savings in materials, labor and provides endless advantages of quality, termination and strength.

  2. Cement Board

  3. Water and Wing Barrier

  4. OSB Board

  5. Thermic and Acoustic Glass wool Insulation

  6. Sheet Rock

  7. Galvanized steel PGC Structural profile

  8. Vapor Barrier

This type of exterior cladding is the most similar to traditional construction.
The cement plate comes in different spreaders: 1/4, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inch.
It is manufactured 48 inch wide by 96 inch high. It is fixed by screws or nail.
The joints between plates are taken with a fiberglass weave ribbon and exterior putty.

The cement plate is made of Portland cement in its core,
and laminated with a fiberglass mesh polymerized on both sides.
It provides a solid base for receiving ceramic, marble,
stone and brick tiles, ceramics, tiles and mosaics, as well as painting or textured finishes.

In Steel Frame, an elastomeric paint is applied to the cement board.
Also known as plastic plaster.
It gives elasticity so that it does not crack or crack, does not peel or peel.
The plaster also provides a waterproof barrier, which prevents the passage of water,
being 100% impermeable to rain. It replaces fine plaster and paint, thus reducing
material and labor costs and construction deadlines.

2) Sheet Metal Cladding (Tin House)

  • -It's the cheapest coating. Its cost per square meter is lower compared to other alternatives.

  • -It installs more easily, thus reducing the cost of labor.

  • -It installs with greater speed, shortening the times of work.

  • -It is free of maintenance, since it does not need to be painted as a traditional facade.

  • -It has the best old age, because it does not deteriorate with the passage of time.

  • -It is 100% recyclable. Not only is it produced with a recycled material such as steel, but it has a resale value, even when it reaches the end of its useful life. The masonry ends instead as a fill in uneven terrain.

  • -It can be combined with an expanded polystyrene sheet whose shape copies the crests and valleys of the corrugated sheet, for a perfect fit, in such a way that it insulates against temperatures and sounds.

3) Siding House - Simil Wood or flat

Siding is an attractive alternative as an exterior cladding when it is intended to embellish
the house with the beauty and warmth of the wood, but without the additional maintenance
that it requires and the poor old age that it has over time.

The possibility of installing the boards both vertically and horizontally,
painting them in the color imagined and combining them to beautify the facades
with other coatings, such as stone and wood, make Siding a flexible and adaptable covering.

Water and Wind Barrier

The water and wind barrier prevents rainwater and wind from entering the panel.
It also prevents fresh air in summer and hot air in winter from escaping,
making the use of energy in the house more efficient.

A product of advanced engineering and technology, it consists of a
lightweight and durable membrane that avoids the passage of water and air on its outer side,
but on the inside it is permeable, so that it lets the steam pass,
thus preventing it from passing through. Condense and accumulate moisture and fungi.

The water and wind barrier helps keep the house cool in summer,
warm in winter and dry all year round. It is manufactured by a spinning of
extremely fine fibers of high density polyethylene that
fuse together to form a strong and uniform membrane.

The structure is designed to create millions of extremely small pores
that impede the passage of water and air, while allowing moisture vapor to pass through.

OSB board

The OSB board (Oriented Strand Board)
is a plate composed of wood chips and strands compressed by
a press that applies pressure and heat, and firmly attached to each other
by a powerful glue.

To achieve its hardness and structural rigidity,
the wood strands are oriented in different directions, so that the
strands of one layer are arranged perpendicular to the strands of another layer.
It is marketed in different thicknesses: 9, 11, 10, 18, 30 and up to 25 mm.

The OSB board is used to stiffen the structure. Applied on the uprights,
that is, the PGC galvanized steel profiles that support the structure vertically,
prevent horizontal movements from side to side.

Another alternative to stiffen is to use phenolic multilayers, which consists of
successive layers of thin sheets of wood joined together by a powerful
adhesive resin, a derivative of phenol.

Glass wool insulation

The glass wool is an insulating material that insulates the panels from the
temperatures and sounds. The glass wool is placed in the middle of the panel,
between the galvanized steel profiles PGC.
There are other insulating materials, such as Expanded Polystyrene,
but glass wool is the most used. It comes in different thicknesses: 2, 3 and 4 inch.

Unlike the traditional wet construction, which does not have the possibility of using materials that isolate the cold, heat and sounds, with Steel Framing you can use different insulators, which make the house more comfortable and silent, while they reduce the energy costs to cool and heat it.

Roofs and Sky Ceiling

Steel Framing has the virtue of making the structure of the roof with galvanized steel profiles or wooden braces with exposed machimbre.
It is usually made entirely of galvanized steel following the Steel Framing line. It can be built on ceilings to one water but also to two, four waters, crossed ceilings, etc.
The ceilings are insulated with glass wool w / aluminum, the cover can be sheet metal, ceramic tile, asphalt shingle or others.

Ceiling: The interior finish has a suspended structure made of steel and the termination of it is with plasterboard.

Plasterboard

Gypsum board is applied as interior lining.
It comes in two thicknesses: 0.5 and 0.625 inch. The gypsum board fulfills the same
function here as the gypsum plaster that finishes the fine plaster of the traditional construction.

Water, Sewer, Light and Gas Installations

Both the water and gas installations are made by thermo-fusion embedded inside the Wall.
The sewage and light installations are made as in any type of construction embedded inside the wall and with their respective materials.

Openings

Openings: The Steel Framing system is suitable for placing any type of openings, whether aluminum, sheet metal or PVC.

Floor / Wall Coverings and Equipment

The System is suitable to receive any type of floor / wall coverings and artifacts to choose the taste of each client.

Why Steel Framing?

   Shorter Time

With Steel Frame, the work deadlines are up to more than 3 times lower than those of
a traditional wet work.

The assembly of the panels can be done in the same building as well as in the workshop,
so that construction times are not delayed by the weather.

With a saving of 70% in construction times, building with Steel Frame ensures
that the cost per square meter does not suffer increases throughout the work.

        Lower Cost

With Steel Frame, it is built at a lower cost per square meter than with
the traditional masonry system.

The exact amount of galvanized steel profiles to be used is
accurately calculated by means of Detail Engineering, so there is no waste.

The work ends in -30% less than a traditional construction,
allowing to offer a cost per m2 more accessible.

Frequently asked questions before building

Why choose Steel Framing?

Very simple, a steel structure is a high quality product at lower cost, it is light and resistant, environmentally friendly, it does not burn, it is resistant to termites and fungi, and it does not expand or deform.

Is it cheaper to build in Steel Framing?

Yes, Steel Framing is very competitive in price, especially if we consider its quality, which is excellent in this product. It has many advantages over conventional construction techniques, including ecological ones.

Is it possible to do mixed works?

Yes. Additions are relatively simple and do not pose any problem. It is even more beneficial in the addition of second traditional construction plants, due to the lower weight involved in Steel Framing.

How much flexibility do I have with the design?

The freedom of plant and the architectural style is practically unlimited. In addition, it is possible to produce steel designs that are difficult with other materials. Taking advantage of this feature the owner can often build with less expense than with the use of more conventional materials.

Are the buildings in Steel Framing looking different?

For the discerning eye yes, they look better. The walls are straight and level, ceilings and ceilings do not have ripples or protuberances. There are no plaster imperfections on the walls. The roofs of houses with steel structure do not yield to the passage of time, even in concrete tiles, so that the finished work remains in good condition. We must also remember that the versatility of this system allows to achieve terminations in: brick, stone, EIFS, Siding or even accept combinations thereof, therefore the final appearance will depend on the design or taste of the client.

The structure in Steel Framing are made of stainless steel. How do I know that it will be strong enough to support the structure of the house?

The properties of steel are known and consistent, and conform to international quality standards. Where high tensile strength steel components are used with the corresponding bonding methods, and are designed to pass stringent performance tests.

Steel expands or contracts with changes in temperature. This is a problem?

Steel structures expand and contract at rates not unlike the other materials used in construction, which means that noise or structural cracking is unlikely.

Are not the structures in Steel Framing oxidized?

The galvanized coating gives the profile used in the Steel Framing system an excellent protection, giving it fabulous properties among which is its high resistance to abrasion, as well as corrosion. This last characteristic produces three excellent effects. The first, called "protection by barrier effect" consists in the insulation against an environment that could be quite aggressive. Secondly, "cathodic or sacrificial protection" is one in which zinc behaves like the anodic part of corrosion, thus, as long as there is zinc coating, then the steel will be protected. Finally, the "restoration of bare areas"

The galvanized provides protection against atmospheric corrosion, responding to the climatic conditions of the place where the piece of steel is located, as well as against pollutants such as sulfur oxide and chlorides typical of areas near the coast . Another protection provided by the galvanized is related to water, both sweet and sea.

In summary, among the many advantages that make this galvanizing process something so positive and necessary is that they give the profiles a much longer durability, as well as great resistance. It is worth mentioning the great protection that this coating gives, protecting it as a physical barrier, electrochemically and providing a self-healing process with zinc corrosion products.

Does falling lightning affect a Steel Framing house more than a traditional one?

The Steel Framing offers to the occupants of the house better protection than any other constructive system. Scientists recommend seeking protection in steel structures during storms because steel provides the beam with a path to the ground, reducing the risk of explosions, accidental fire or personal injury.

Does this system interfere with radios, telephones, WiFi, TV signals?

No. The waves pass through the spaces between the steel elements allowing the use of radio receivers, telephones and television receivers in your home.

How do you hang a painting in a residence built with this system?

Depending on the weight of the frame, it can be screwed directly onto the plasterboard, with special studs. If the object is very heavy it can be anchored directly in the structure, which is easily identifiable.

Are there studies on the durability of buildings in Steel Framing?

Yes. In Australia and New Zealand steel structures have been used successfully in home construction since the early 1950s. Today's Steel Framing represents the result of years of research, experimentation and product improvement. Do not forget that Steel Framing has been used in commercial buildings for many years due to its superior attributes.
